Tulsa had triplets yesterday. In the morning I noticed Tulsa’s udder had doubled. It was extreme, and I wish I taken a picture. But I was tired and the girls were eager to get to the pasture. At noon Will and I went to drop off some more lumber at the new house, which is just down the street. I check the girls and everyone was fine. At 12:32 we headed up the driveway, when I notice. I yelled, and then hoped it wasn’t a skunk under Tulsa. I was very relieved as I ran up to find that it was twins. Black little babies with white tuffs on their heads, hence the skunk concern. I had my camera in hand.
Samson had a vet appointment. So we packed him up, and I decided to check on the little ones just one more time. That is when I saw it. Another bubble….another baby. Tulsa accidentally laid down on a baby but between my and the little’s yelling she moved. With in seconds another was born. This one was rear first, but kicked and pushed itself out.
The two first ones are boys, and the third is a girl. She is colored just like her mother just blonder. Note for gender checking: It is way, way easier to figure out who is a girl first. Male anatomy on a tiny kid goat isn’t that noticeable. Once I saw the last one, I knew immediately that the first were bucks.
Little Man is the oldest…he was the most clean when we arrived. Then there is Rodeo…he has been bucking since birth. Last but not least, Gingersnaps…..because I said so. Their name are subject to change, but I need a way to identify them for now. Of course, Little Man and Rodeo are going to be sold, so their new homes will most likely have new names. I will also be selling Tulsa. She is a great mother, which I quickly found out. Her temperament is just not meshing with Yale. Not to worry, I am only going to sell to good homes. She and soon the babies are registered and DNA registered, and that tends to draw better homes to begin with. I am retaining Gingersnaps.
- Tulsa is currently birthing Gingersnaps, with two others trying to nurse.
- Gingersnaps is taking her first steps.
- The first thing I saw
- All three headed to nurse.
- Eldest kid, Little Man
- Lively middle kid
- My little Gingersnaps
- Rodeo enjoy a snack!
